Skirt Assembly Tutorial

Before you start! Look at those parts!!! Look how beautifully straight they are. See how they glisten in the light. Go ahead you can lick them.. if you want to keep them nice and straight make sure you file each tab as little burrs on them will make them not go in straight. If you want to skip this step you can move down to post 3 "How do I order replacement inner supports!"

So when you receive the skirt is should arrive like this it roughly cost me $290 but if you are savvy you can shop around or get a coupon code for $50 to $100 off.

Next you want to be sure and sand the parts this will help the paint stick when you paint the skirt.

Next make sure you countersink all holes circled ensuring the bolts are flush.

Image

Install each one of the inner ribs make sure you use locktite to prevent the bolts from coming loose.

Image

Once all the ribs are installed it should look like this.

Image

Countersink all the holes on the larger plate. attach the top plate to the ribs using a rubber mallet make sure to be gentle not bending the inner ribs.

Image

A good tip is to use tape on the tiny nut slots to keep them in place while attaching the skins.

Image

Countersink the 4 holes on the side panel. When attaching the side panel make sure you use painters tape to hold the nuts in place becaus it will be hard to get you fingers in there once attached. Do this for both sides.

Image

Countersink all the holes on the curved piece. gently using the skirt form your curve and test fit do not attach unless everything lines up properly. If it is not lining up make sure the tabs are flush and/or file where needed.

In order for us to provide a 100% aluminum skirt we needed to cut the ribs on there side from .500 aluminum. It will look extremely rough this is normal you will need to sand it smooth for a nice finish. When you are done it should look like the one on the right. you may also need to files the tab a bit so it slides into the skins perfectly.

Image

Finally with some E600 glue the ribs in place make sure you file and test fit each rib first to make sure it sits flush.

You beat the shit out of it when you where assembling them right? Well don't feel bad I did the same thing :P Well that's why we made separate inner support files and there pretty cheap. I'm assuming you only need 1 or two. You can't possible be that stupid to screw them all up but hay if you did we included the file for all the supports. Please ignore the fact that I had to order them all.

Single support files

All supports file

It’s scary that the download number on the 4 files required is different. You guys do know you need all files at the thickness stated.
